TANDERSPORT EXPANDS FURTHER AS MATHEW RADISICH JOINS THREE-CAR OPERATION FOR PHILLIP ISLAND AND BEYOND
by Race Torque Media

TanderSport is pleased to confirm a further expansion to three cars for the upcoming fifth round of the 2008 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship for the CAMS Gold Star.

Young New-Zealand born driver Mathew Radisich, the nephew of Touring Car great Paul, will join the team driving his existing Dallara F304 – Spiess Opel chassis in the F3 National Class.

The car is being prepared out of TanderSport's Melbourne HQ and will run in team colours for the remainder of the year.

The team is also pleased to further enhance its Kiwi connection thanks to the return of Ben Crighton to the team for the first Phillip Island round this season.

Crighton made his debut with the team at Oran Park in round three and twice finished on the podium in the competitive F3 National Class, driving the TanderSport #52 F304 – Spiess Dallara.

TanderSport expanded to two cars for the first time this season after narrowly finishing second outright in the championship least year in its first complete season of wings and slicks racing.

Driver Leanne Tander has won two of the last four races in the competitive 2008 championship and has turned a 27 point championship deficit into just nine points at the halfway point of the season. Leanne became the first multiple race winner of the 2008 season when she won from the front row of the grid in race one at Mallala a week ago.

Mathew Radisich joins TanderSport sitting fourth in this years' F3 National Class despite missing two opportunities to score points this year.

Mathew's car was involved in the hefty Oran Park practice shunt that stopped him from scoring points at the Sydney track and ruled him out of Mallala as well – a disappointment given he had finished on the class podium in two of the first three races held this season, at A1GP and the demanding Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

20-year-old Radisich has been racing competitively since he was just seven years old, and became one of the youngest drivers in the world to race Formula Ford, aged 12. He made his F3 debut at the Australian Grand Prix support races in 2007 and completed a limited schedule in the car that season.

TanderSport's three-car line-up will test at Phillip Island prior to round five of the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship for the CAMS Gold Star, to be held between June 13 – 15.

Mathew Radisich – McDonalds NZ / HT Leads / DBA TanderSport Dallara F304 – Spiess Opel

"It's very exciting to be joining TanderSport. I think the chance to join a winning team like this will be a great opportunity and a big help towards my career.

"The ability to work with an experienced team-mate like Leanne, and see her data from driving a 304 car will be a big help.. It's also pretty handy to have someone like Garth there to chat to and get some pointers and advice. The team has great facilities and I've settled in well so far, so I'm really looking forward to Phillip Island."

Ben Crighton – TanderSport Dallara F304 – Spiess Opel

"I can't wait – how can you resist racing at a place like Phillip Island!

"I had a great time working with TanderSport at Oran Park but I'm looking forward to this one even more because I'm a lot better prepared. For starters I'll be able to do the test day prior to the round which I think is a great chance to ease your way into the car and adapt to the track. I've also been spending some more time in the Gym to improve my fitness further because the F3 cars are more physical to drive thanks to their extra downforce."

Garth Tander – TanderSport co-owner / Team Manager

"Firstly, It's great to have Ben back in the car. He did a good job at Oran Park to finish on the National Class podium but I think he can go even better this time around – the fact that he'll be doing the test beforehand will be a big help.

"That car is proven at Phillip Island so he'll be able to have a red hot go.

"For Mathew, we see this as a great opportunity for him to work with us to progress his career.

"He's already been very enthusiastic and has spent a lot of time in the workshop working on the car and getting to know the team. He has a lot of talent and has shown that he can be fast, but working with us he'll be able to draw on the data we already have for Leanne's old car as well as talking to us about the car, the setup and his driving.

"I've got no doubt that he can contend for wins in the National Class and we're really happy to have him aboard."
