Birth Date: 15 August, 1986
Born & Lives: Palmerston North, New Zealand
Nationality: New Zealander

In New Zealand Karting, Josh Hart is one of the most accredited young drivers in the sport today. He's now moved his focus to international racing, where he's taking on some of the best drivers in his class from around the World.

Josh began Karting in '96 at the age of 9 years, inspired by his father who owned a kart shop and was formerly a multi-national champion who also competed at World level. Following in Ray Hart's footsteps, Josh went on to secure his own national titles amongst numerous other championships in New Zealand Kartsport categories.

As winner of the 2002 Speedsport Magazine 'Star of Tomorrow' scholarship for Formula First, Josh's introduction to car racing saw him take the Rookie of the Year and 5th place in the national championship at 16 years. He backed-up his opening season taking the Vice Champion's trophy in 2004 and also winning the Formula first winter Series. Without the necessary budget to continue, this is where Josh's limited Formula career ended for the time being.

In 2005, he won the national Rotax Max Challenge in the 125cc class and qualified for the Rotax Grand finals in Malaysia. Josh finished an impressive 5th in the premier class against a field of international champions from the biggest series around the globe. Following this, he went on to represent NZ once again at the event for the past two years in Portugal and the United Arab Emirates, which now boasts in excess of 60 countries in the competition.

2008 has been an exciting year for the Palmerston North karter, who took the opportunity to move overseas and race in Europe with an Austrian team. His outstanding results and dedicated driving in Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and France earned him an offer with one of the most well-known race teams in the rotax European Championship to compete in Germany. After qualifying 3rd in a field of almost 90 and a top 10 finish, Josh will now remain based in Austria for the remainder of the season. He's currently leading the national championship and hopes to cement a podium place in the Euro international series.

Next year Josh wants to build on his own experience and network of contacts, by returning to Europe where Karting is clearly the breeding ground for all facets of Motorsport. With additional support, he plans to move his career forward and take the next step into cars.
